Thanh Hue is a Hanoi-born freelance photojournalist currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Her practice falls within the socially conscious documentary tradition, with a focus on human-centered issues, specifically portraits of people in their living spaces.
Hue began her career documenting groups that spontaneously migrate and lived in residential areas in Hanoi in 2019. After graduating at the Academy of Journalism and Communication in the same year, she worked as a regular contributor for VnExpress - the most read Vietnamese newspaper and covered news and lifestyle stories.
In late 2020, she contributed to Reuters as a locally based stringer, covering news around Vietnam. The international news agency has served as a channel for her works to be published in major outlets such as The Guardian, CNN, The New York Times, and Aljazeera. Also in 2020, she completed Online Hostile Environment Training, hosted by Reuters.
